I chose to use the Picnik to do some cool editing to a picture of my chocolate lab, Dane. The cool thing about this site is that you can edit and do many neat things to your photos and then you can send them to various places to get developed, such as Wal-Greens and Snapfish (which is what I use). You can also upload it to your networking sites such as facebook. You can also just print the image from your own computer! There are many choices of sharing your photos with the world and you can save them all on this website.
Flickr and many Flickr mashups can be very useful in your personal life as well as in education. I found one website during my research that is very beneficial. http://langwitches.org/blog/2008/01/12/flickr-use-for-teachers/
I even learned on here how to create captions on your photos. It seems that teachers need to get familiar with Flickr and the mashup programs because it is very beneficial for things such as slideshows or even just to pull up a photo of a certain person or place if you want to show your students a visual. I think the reasons for the use of these tools for your personal life are quite obvious, and habit forming!
I think it is great that we can now share our photos online. We now have so much more access to pictures of people and places in the world that we may not otherwise ever get the chance to see. This really helps give people visuals and is great for teachers! I am thankful also that I can share my personal photos with my family and friends in the click of a button!
