I already had a facebook account, so for this exercise I did not have to do much work! I absolutely love facebook. It is so nice to have a way to keep up with friends, family, and colleagues. I think social networking is very important for educators because it is the new way to keep in touch. I think a great feature on facebook is the grouping tool. You can create a group and have people join. I think it would be wonderful for teachers to have a group for their classroom so their students can post things, get assignments, and even help with their assignments. Most of us are on facebook, and a majority of students are as well. I think it's a great way to get involved with students and even parents.
I personally prefer facebook to myspace. I had a myspace account for years, and I finally deleted it and switched! I found facebook much easier. It was always a hassle to keep my page up to date and my pictures up to date on myspace. The tools for the decorating on that one were not very easy to me. I like that you don't have to worry with decorating your facebook page as much, and adding pictures is much easier. Myspace allowed you to put pictures in many different locations, and then when it was time to delete them, it was not easy because it was all in codes. I've had a much easier time with facebook, I just update my status, check out what everyone else is doing, upload and change pictures now and then, and I'm all set!
